01

A chart of accounts you can actually read

Start from a ready chart of accounts and adjust it to your business. Assets, liabilities, equity, income, and expenses are already structured correctly, so you are editing a working system rather than building one from a blank page.

  • Ready-made chart of accounts you can rename and extend
  • Accounts grouped by type, with live balances
  • Categories map your day-to-day language onto the right accounts
02

Every document posts itself

This is the difference between accounting software and an invoice generator. Issue an invoice and Staks debits receivables and credits revenue and VAT. Pay a bill, run payroll, or issue a credit note and the matching entries appear. Posting happens in the database, not as an afterthought.

  • Invoices, quotes, credit notes, expenses, bills, and payroll all post
  • Payments, part-payments, and refunds adjust the ledger correctly
  • Cost of goods sold posts from bills and stock movements
03

A journal you can inspect line by line

Open the journal to see every entry with its date, accounts, debits, credits, and the document that created it. When a number looks wrong, you can trace it back to the invoice or expense behind it instead of guessing.

  • Every entry linked to its source document
  • Manual journal entries when you need them
  • Account transaction history per account
04

VAT and taxes handled where they belong

Set your rates once — 5% in the UAE, 15% in Saudi Arabia, 11% in Lebanon — and they apply across documents. VAT collected and VAT paid sit in their own accounts, so what you owe or reclaim is a number you can read rather than reconstruct.

05

Assets, liabilities, equity, and commissions

The parts most small-business tools skip are here. Track fixed assets, loans and other liabilities, owner investments and drawings, and sales commissions — each posting to the ledger properly so your balance sheet actually balances.

  • Fixed assets with their own register
  • Liabilities and loan balances
  • Investments, equity, and owner drawings kept separate from revenue
  • Sales commissions tracked against the deals that earned them
06

Books in more than one currency

Invoice in USD, pay a supplier in AED, and keep books in whichever currency is your primary. Staks converts using the rate on each document date and keeps the historical rate on the entry, so old periods do not shift when today's rate moves.

Questions

Which plan includes accounting?
The full accounting suite — chart of accounts, journal, assets, liabilities, and equity — is on the Growth plan ($49/month, or $490/year) and above. Invoicing, expenses, and CRM are available on Starter.
Do I need to know double-entry bookkeeping to use it?
No. You work in ordinary documents — invoices, expenses, bills — and the double-entry happens underneath. The ledger is there when you or your accountant want to look at it.
Where do I find my profit and loss or balance sheet?
Under Reports. Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, trial balance, and account transactions all read from the same ledger, so they agree with each other by construction.
Can my accountant work in Staks with me?
Yes. Invite them as a user and set what they can see. The Growth plan includes 5 users and the Scale plan 15, with per-member permissions on both.
